Club del Gommone Magnificent Winter RIB Run

On 9 February 2023, members of the Club del Gommone held a winter RIB run on the beautiful Lake Como in Italy to open the season.

This 52nd edition of the Invernale started this year from Vercurago at the Cantiere Bolis on Lake Garlate.

After leaving the boatyard, the group sailed north to exit Lake Garlate and, after a short stretch of the River Adda, entered Lake Como just in front of the city of Lecco.

From there, they went up the lake for about fifteen miles, passing Abbadia Lariana, Mandello, and heading for Punta Spartivento di Bellagio, recognizable by the cliff that separates the lake into two branches.

Near the cliff, as is tradition, they toasted with an auspicious aperitif to start the season.

After the aperitif in the water, they returned to Vercurago (around 14:00-14:30) for an additional aperitif, which by then will have become a snack, at the Bar Restaurant ‘Il Molo’ opposite the boatyard for the 2022 edition.

There was no participation fee.

As a good organiser some agreements were made:

  • On Lake Garlate, you may not exceed a speed of 10 knots.
  • Under the bridges along the stretch of river connecting the two lakes, you must not exceed 5 knots
  • On Lake Como, you cannot exceed 22 knots.
  • The boatyard has fuel.
  • Navigation communications channel 73.

Their other RIB Raids are impressive as well.

The Club del Gommone is an association of pneumatic boat owners founded in Milan in 1970 with the aim of gathering all nautical pleasure enthusiasts and promoting nautical tourism. The Club organizes gatherings, raids, and competitions, and is non-profit and apolitical. Can ChatGPT help with listing up RIBs Smaller Than 4 Meter?

For an article on RIBs smaller than 4 meter worldwide, I thought ChatGPT could be of some assistance. If you’re not familiar with this conversational AI-tool, check out this page.

While the trend in the world of fantastic Rigid Inflatable Boats is leaning towards larger sizes, the “smaller” ones remain necessary, making entry into this world more accessible.

So 4 meter was my parameter number 1.

Will ChatGPT help me to provide a full list of RIBs smaller than 4 meters (great video by the way).

I started with a lot of enthusiasm and ran my query multiple times, adapting it to get the desired result.

I noticed that it was a mix of brands that differed from each other to a lesser extent. So I began to worry about the precision of the ChatGPT neural network even in this stadium.

Only when I pointed out that some information was incorrect did the tool excuse itself and provided more accurate information about RIBs smaller than 4 meter. That was awesome.

So I still had to “correct” the items in the list and added the links myself.

I learned that the formulation of the question must be very clear to get what you want. It’s like working with software developers.

It certainly wasn’t all doom and gloom; I really enjoy(ed) working with ChatGPT, albeit with some nuances in the answers. Privacy, safety, and copyright are certainly things to be aware of!

I really liked being able to have a conversation to delve deeper into the subject matter of RIBs smaller than 4 meter. This concept motivated me to keep going and achieve better results; in contrast to Google, for example.

This maxi RIB is the flagship of the ZAR Formenti fleet built in Italy. Designed for those who want to experience a day or an entire holiday permeated with emotions while also receiving exclusive relaxation.

Remarkable.. it’s the only maxi RIB with a tender garage in the 43’ range.

Belgian Pnematiclub Rotterdam 2021 – Trip in The Netherlands

BPC stands for “Belgian Pneumatic Club” and is a very active group of RIB passionates with a family character

Their Facebook group is managed by Gilles Van Haelst and Olivier Humbeeck.

Each year, the Club draws up a calendar of outings designed to meet everyone’s expectations: sea or inland waterways, day trips or several days, in Belgium or abroad.
