The Highfield Velox 560 – A 300 hp Jet Powered RIB

The Interesting Velox 560 from Highfield boats

The presenter typically reviews jet-powered personal watercraft (PWC), making several aspects of the Velox 560 unfamiliar.

That fresh perspective arguably makes the review even more insightful from our point of view.

The Highfield Velox 560 could introduce a different approach to recreational jet-powered RIBs in the US.

The 5.6-metre (19 ft) model reportedly features a 300 hp Rotax jet engine and reaches speeds of around 50 mph (80 km/h / 43.4 knots).

The specifications indicate a maximum power of 230 hp…

Its aluminium hull and inflatable tubes are said to provide the stability of a conventional 21- to 23-foot boat.

Multiple air chambers could improve safety by keeping the remaining tubes inflated after a puncture.

A large swim platform, modular seating for up to five people and strong offshore capability may appeal to coastal boaters seeking speed, versatility and confidence in agitated water.

Highfield ADV7 Testing the Crossover, Built for 8

The GRP Built ADV7

Unlike Highfield’s other RIB models, the ADV7 features a fibreglass hull instead of aluminium, marking a first for the company.

The 2025 Highfield ADV7 combines features of a RIB and a sports boat in a 7-metre crossover design.

Raised, slimmer Hypalon tubes and higher hull sides create more usable deck space.

With a 2-metre beam, it provides a spacious interior that feels larger than many boats of this size.

According to the presenter, the aft seating area accommodates seven people around a folding table.

The helm seats includes a concealed wet bar, refrigerator and sink. All small but useful.

Convertible bow and stern sunbeds, a console with an integrated marine toilet and a T-top improve comfort during longer trips.

Designed for up to eight passengers, the ADV7 is equally suited to watersports and coastal cruising.

A towing arch, deep-V aluminium hull and 270-litre fuel tank support long explorations and a lot of fun.

A Phenomenal Two Day Pasty Run

OCRDA bank holiday weekender @ RIBs ONLY - Home of the Rigid Inflatable Boat
Three of the fourteen participating RIBs – all photos by Aaron Squirrell and Tornado Tom

Fourteen RIBs and Two Jet Skis at the Pasty Run

The 14th Annual Pasty Run and Hunt took place during the weekend of 23rd and 24th May 2026 across Devon and Cornwall waters.

The event has grown significantly over recent years and is now probably the South Coast’s largest RIB gathering, outside Easdale in Scotland.

The event originally began after the Nacho Run, organised through Ribnet, where Hampshire crews enjoyed nachos while Cornish crews preferred pasties instead.

Over the years, RIBs of every size and style gathered together, cruising Cornish waters while searching enthusiastically for the famous elusive pasty.

For the first time, the 2026 event included an overnight stop, travelling east into Devon instead of remaining within Cornwall throughout entirely.

Fourteen RIBs and two jet skis travelled from Plymouth Breakwater Fort to Torquay, stopping overnight through Salcombe and Dartmouth during the social cruise.

The RIBs

The cruise was led by a Highfield Patrol 600, while an impressive Highfield Sport 700 followed behind, bringing up the rear.

Between the Highfields were RIBs of many shapes and sizes, including a 4m Tornado, Atlantic 21, and solid 7.4m Delta prominently.

Other boats included a Ribcraft, Ribtec, several Brigs, an Osprey, a Valiant, Avon Super Sport, and an X-Pro among the fleet.

Two Sea-Doos joined the adventure, although a third jet ski, a Yamaha, unfortunately failed to reach the starting location before departure.

Highfield Velox 560 Review – Made in the USA

The Velox in the Middle

The Highfield Velox 560 is the bridge between de 420 and the 660 Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs).

It combines an aluminium hull with a Rotax jet propulsion system for responsive performance on the water.

Its jet-driven configuration allows operation in shallow waters where traditional outboard-powered boats often face limitations.

The model uses Highfield’s high-tensile aluminium hull construction, already familiar throughout the brand’s wider RIB range.

On board, the Velox 560 features an open layout with generous seating and several integrated storage compartments.

The setup is intended for day cruising, watersports activities, and fast coastal passages in varying water conditions.

With an overall length of 5,60 metres, the model targets both families and recreational performance-oriented boaters.

The combination of jet propulsion and lightweight construction creates a distinctly different driving experience compared to conventional RIBs.
