Highfield TV – Ep.16 – Coding the Patrol 660 RIB

In this episode you’ll get an idea of the MCA 3R Coding process on a Patrol 660 RIB. MCA stands for Maritime Coastguard Agency.

Why coding your RIB in the UK?

  • To operate a boat for skippered or bareboat use usually for commercial gain.
  • To take people afloat who pay more than a reasonable contribution towards the trip.
  • To operate a workboat.

Proud to share that Highfield is a good Friend of RIBs ONLY.

Puma Racing Team – Near Crash

Near Crash

I got the chance to interview the Team Owner en Manager of the Puma Racing Team, Xavier Derille about the race in Benalmadena Spain. This race was under the auspices of the UIM. That says that this is the real stuff.

What happened with the Puma Racing Team at the start of heat 2

As you have seen, the weather conditions were not the best. At the start of heat 2 we had a very good start. We had a bit too much nose-lift during training and decided to provide 25 kg all the way in the front of the nose.

In order to offer us the indispensable view during the take-off procedure, we also had the flaps set.

During the race we both noticed an approaching wave just too late (00:21) and in a split second we were almost perpendicular to the water. The flaps hit the next wave and the bow flipped down.

Cruden’s Cool Fast Craft Simulator

Cruden‘s RIB simulator provides the highest levels of accuracy and realism for high speed boat handling, navigation, drills and tactics scenarios. They are used by maritime training organizations, defense divisions and the general design community alike.

It has a unique combination of real boat hardware, a full-motion simulation platform, professional imaging technology and geographic databases. Its wave and boat modeling techniques are also modeled from the automotive and motorsport sectors.

Rafnar 1100 RIB Test Drive in Rough Conditions

The title in the top left corner originally said “in extreme conditions”. I think this is such a context. Therefore I changed it to “in rough conditions”. No offense, Rafnar Netherlands. Still it proofs Rafnars unbelievable capabilities.

During the severe storms Eunice, Dudley and Franklin in February 2022, this video of a test drive to experienced RIB drivers in the Rafnar 1100 was shot.

Its a RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) for professional, harbour, emergency, military and other services related to providing safety at sea.

With strong gusts up to 140 km/h, a Code Red weather alarm was applied for the coastal regions in The Netherlands, and so IJmuiden.

Waves up to about 4 meters high rolled into the IJmuiden harbour from the North Sea. Powered by 3 Mercury outboards of 350 HP each, the Rafnar 1100 was fiercely put to the test.

Sergio Davì Nears The Finish in His Nuova Jolly RIB

In December of 2021, Captain Sergio Davì set out on an impressive 5-month RIB expedition across the Atlantic, through the Panama Canal and up to Los Angeles, California. He left from Palermo, Italy.

His configuration is a twin Suzuki powered Nuova Jolly Prince 38 CC.

During his final stretch up the Mexican Baja and into Ensenada, Mexico, Simrad Yachting caught up with the adventurous Italian to get a glimpse of what life was like on board during this amazing 5-month voyage over 10,000 nautical miles and across two oceans.

Check out his fantastic route below …
