It is not my habit to post low-resolution videos. This one is 480p instead of 1080p or 2160p.

I make an exception here because pure RIB races of that size seem almost extinct today.

The Race Comments

The fourth race by O.F.S.E. of the Greek Offshore Championship took place on 17 September 2006 in Athens. It was organized by the Hellenic RIB Club: O.F.S.E. (Hellenic Inflatable Boats Association, website).

A total of 49 boats participated, setting a new record since the competition began in 1994.

This 10-minute drone video captures the process of hauling RIBs (Rigid Inflatable Boats) from the water.

This takes place in a Greek coastal town named Thoriko.

While not action-packed, it offers a calm, detailed look at the operations from above.

The aerial perspective allows you to appreciate the coordination and technique involved, as well as the scenic ramp setting.

I think it’s informative and visually engaging for those interested in maritime logistics or drone footage.

With these RIB you don’t need a ramp: Amphibious designs.

Greek ZEN Marine Showcasing the Sleek ZEN 40

Carlo of the Sea Team walks us through the ZEN 40. A precise, high-quality walkaround in classic Sea Team fashion—clear, professional, and engaging.

The new (2020) Greek shipyard ZEN Marine now has 4 models:

  • ZX4 (14.60 m)
  • ZEN 39/40
  • ZEN 39S/40S
  • ZEN 39 stern drive

The ZEN 40 sleeps 4 and has a wet room or bathroom where the shower is optional.

ZEN Marine claims that with their RIB you can be at sea in conditions with 4 meter waves or 13ft wave height up to to 8 Beaufort.

I always try to imagine that and tell myself that in these conditions I’d rather work on RIBsONLY.com.

While watching the video I noticed three things:

  1. It might be the camera angle, but the two Honda outboard engines appear to be installed quite close together. This isn’t an issue if you plan to install a joystick, as the engines never counter-rotate. Most likely, this is because of the hull design.
  2. The small fridge doesn’t seem to close easily.
  3. I’d suggest a better solution for the front cleat, as the rope(s) could potentially rub against the tubes.

Our friends at e-ribbing.com have put this model to the test several times and made videos of it, well worth watching!
