Vision Marine Emotion 180 hp Electric Outboard

The batteries of this 180 hp or better 75 kWh electric outboard can be charged on a regular 220 V power outlet.

The engine, battery pack, BMS (Battery management system), charger, monitor, throttle controls and all the other components needed to power the boat are included.

I gave the electric outboards some attention earlier here on RIBs ONLY.

Vision Marine Technologies is a publicly traded company (Nasdaq) which is already 25 years active in the boating industry. It is in the business of designing and manufacturing electric outboard powertrain systems and related technologies.

Apex Presentation 2022

Honestly I knew them only mostly for small, regular RIBs en tenders. But boy, was I wrong when I came across this video…

Apex Boats has a plant in wonderful* Costa Rica. It’s located in La Guacima, with a space of 4,000 m2 with an indoor 2,000 m2 infrastructure and very high ceilings for ventilation.

Take a look inside their shipyard. The RIB with the red front tubes at 01:03 and the one with the blue top are quite impressive amongst all the smaller ones.

*This place is recognized by National Geographic, as the second best climate in the world (altitude and dry microclimate combination gives us a relatively low humidity), atmospheric pressure compresses the remaining moisture in the soil, for working at less than 75% moisture, which is essential for the bonding process.
