Italboats X8 with Suzuki DF300AP Performance Review

The Italboats X8 Tested by the Sea Team

Off Santa Maria di Leuca, Andrea Risolo and Carlo Luongo (LinkedIn profile) tested the Italboats X8 powered by a Suzuki DF300AP Stealth.

The X8, first in the X-RIB line unveiled at Düsseldorf 2025, targets professional and military markets.

In shifting weather, the hull of the Italboats X8 RIB showed balance and dryness, even with tubes deflated for stress evaluation.

At cruising speed, fuel consumption stayed below one liter per mile, impressively efficient for 300 horsepower.

Top speed reached 45 knots, with strong acceleration supported by Suzuki’s variable valve technology.

Italboats X8 – Layout, Design, and Features Explained

Discover the X8 RIB

The Italboats X8 is an 8,54-meter Rigid Inflatable Boat with a 3,2-meter beam and fully trailerable when deflated.

This RIB is powered by a Suzuki DF300 AP, supporting 250 to 450 hp in either single or twin-engine configurations.

The aft platform includes integrated swim ladders, EVA decking for grip, and low maintenance surfaces for safe boarding and movement.

The engine compartment remains fully accessible, while storage options include liftable benches and multiple compartments for equipment and personal belongings.

The cockpit is highly customizable. It features lateral seats and a central helm.

There is a multifunction display and T-top protection offers sun and wind protection.

The bow area allows unobstructed movement, with large storage, optional WC, and convertible sunpads for relaxation or leisure use.

Safety and handling are enhanced by strategically placed handholds, reinforced rub rails, and thoughtfully designed walking surfaces throughout the boat.

To me it looks like the layout is almost complete.

Serious Boating Injuries Are no Joke!

Skippers Exhibiting Unsafe Boating Behavior

To those who know me, it is clear that I am not posting this video out of disaster tourism or clickbait.

On the contrary, my intention is to emphasize that operating a vessel requires a responsible skipper.

This ensures the safety of all onboard.

This video unequivocally also illustrates why the passengers endured a very bad day.

Being a skipper on a Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) and other vessels is more than just steering and speed.

The skipper is fully responsible for all safety on board, navigation, weather awareness, communication, and emergency procedures.

While boating but also during boarding.

They must ensure that the crew and passengers are briefed, the equipment is functioning, and that all regulations are followed.

Performing a recreational trip, the skipper’s judgment and leadership are critical. That makes boating a true pleasure.

Want to see what that looks like in action?

Discover the full range of skipper (lacking) responsibilities in this compelling video – judge for yourself!

One skipper’s reckless driving nearly throws a passenger overboard [00:32], causing the passenger to express anger [00:53]. And the skipper? He just keeps on going even smiling…

Another skipper’s driving results in a passenger in the bow violently hitting his back [01:21].

This impact potentially causes a spine injury. Even the captain struggles to maintain balance [01::42]. And still he just keeps on going…

Additionally, a skipper allows young children to ride in the bow without life jackets.

They also hold a baby mid-ride, which is a serious safety violation [02:05] … and so on…

Because of its importance I’ve published a lot of posts on safety: Stay informed, stay safe.

STINGHER 34 GT in Action!

STINGHER 34 GT by e-RIBBING.com

Based on this video, it looks to me that the 34 GT Rigid Inflatable Boat by Italboats appears to be quite special.

What immediately caught my attention was the raised bow and gradual elevation of the air chambers contribute to a spacious cabin.

This makes it comfortable and ideal for extended time onboard.

The deep V-shaped hull, carefully positioned spray rails, and arched chine provide stability and efficiency.

At the stern of this STINGHER 34 GT, the integrated bracket plays a key role in optimizing navigation at all speeds.

The deck layout , certainly behind the console prioritizes comfort and functionality, offering plenty of space and freedom of movement.
