The All New Protector 310 Chase

The Rayglass Protector 310 Chase is a 9-meter Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) intended for high-speed coastal and offshore operations.

Its hull design focuses on maintaining stability and predictable handling in varying sea conditions.

The walk-around deck provides unobstructed movement around the central console.

The helm is equipped with two shock-mitigating seats designed to reduce impact at speed.

Optional features include a wet bar with freshwater supply, a toilet compartment, and additional seating.

The RIB is commonly used for diving, fishing, and tender duties.

Rayglass, headquartered in New Zealand, has a long-standing relationship with the America’s Cup supplying chase vessels for nearly 25 years.

Rayglass was founded in 1987 by Tony and Vicky Hembrow in Pakuranga. It is a suburb of Auckland, in northern New Zealand.

In recent years, the Brunswick Group invested in the company to support further expansion.

In October 2024, the company opened a brand-new 7,000 sqm production facility.

The company is the exclusively appointed European Distributor for Scorpion RIBs and Protector Boats (Rayglass).

Ian (Andy) Andrews is the Brand Manager for PB Europe and Ancasta for Protector Boats and Scorpion RIBs.

In this post I’ll focus on the Protector RIBs.

Protector RIBs have a track record of proven operational excellence in extremely challenging waters worldwide, this watercraft serves as a robust platform for a range of commercial applications.

Encounter them in action at prestigious events like the America’s Cup and Sail GP races, where they serve as indispensable support vessels.

Protector Boats European Debut from 12th to 15th June 2023

PB Europe are the exclusive European distributor for the globally renowned high performance Protector RIBs. You’ll find them at Berth VA37 during this year’s Seaworks event in Southampton.

There you can visit the 380 Targa, built by the New Zealand based company Rayglass Boats.

The Protector 380 Targa showcases a spacious cabin layout, expansive interior, enclosed standing head.

One standout feature of the 380 Targa is its extensive deck space, offering a generous 9.5′ internal beam and convenient walk-around access to the bow.

With a track record of proven operational excellence in extremely challenging waters worldwide, this watercraft serves as a robust platform for a range of commercial applications.

You see them at work amongst others at the Americas Cup, and SailGP.

Despite its respectable 11.50 meter length, the RIB is dwarfed by these majestic speed sailing yachts.

The New Zealand Company Rayglass

We go back in time to 2012 when this cabin Rayglass RIB was first launched.

The Protector offers a variety of rigid hulled inflatable boats (RIBs). These boats range from 22 ft to 40 ft.

They are designed to excel in the harshest open sea conditions.
