Protector 310 Targa Interesting Walkthrough

Host Steve Bull sea trials the Protector 310 Targa across the beautiful Strait of Georgia in British Columbia.

The 310 Targa combines offshore capability with the comfort and versatility expected from a modern recreational RIB.

Its deep-V hull and large inflatable collar are designed to provide stability, buoyancy and softer landings in rough conditions.

With up to 900 horsepower available, the boat is equipped for fast passages while maintaining control at higher speeds.

Protector reports a top speed of 52 knots.

The 310 Targa has also served as an America’s Cup chase boat.

Its layout supports activities including offshore cruising, fishing, diving and recreational use in demanding sea conditions.

The helm is equipped with two shock-mitigating seats designed to reduce impact at speed.

Rayglass, headquartered in New Zealand, has a long-standing relationship with the America’s Cup supplying chase vessels for nearly 25 years.

Rayglass was founded in 1987 by Tony and Vicky Hembrow in Pakuranga. It is a suburb of Auckland, in northern New Zealand.

In recent years, the Brunswick Group invested in the company to support further expansion.

In October 2024, the company opened a brand-new 7,000 sqm production facility.

Protector Boats European Debut from 12th to 15th June 2023

PB Europe are the exclusive European distributor for the globally renowned high performance Protector RIBs. You’ll find them at Berth VA37 during this year’s Seaworks event in Southampton.

There you can visit the 380 Targa, built by the New Zealand based company Rayglass Boats.

The Protector 380 Targa showcases a spacious cabin layout, expansive interior, enclosed standing head.

One standout feature of the 380 Targa is its extensive deck space, offering a generous 9.5′ internal beam and convenient walk-around access to the bow.

You see them at work amongst others at the Americas Cup, and SailGP.

Despite its respectable 11.50 meter length, the RIB is dwarfed by these majestic speed sailing yachts.
