Testing Three Interactor RIBs in the North Sea

I had the opportunity to test three Interactor models: the 420, 640 and 680, all configured for professional use.

It was a beautiful day in Nieuwpoort-Bad, Belgium, with waves reaching around one metre. An ideal combination for testing these RIBs.

During the two-kilometre passage through the harbour channel, Tim and Silke introduced me to the specifications and history of the brand (see below). Both are partners in the company behind Interactor.

Once Offshore, We Could Really Open the Throttles

Although all three RIBs performed extremely well, the 680 was my clear favourite.

Its proven hull sliced confidently through the waves. Even in sharp turns, there was no cavitation.

The boat responded immediately and precisely to every change of direction. It felt like riding a train on rails.

The smaller 640 was equally convincing. Its well-established Tornado hull earned plenty of praise in the past, and it certainly didn’t disappoint this time either.

The little 420 was tremendous fun to drive.

By then, we had already covered quite some distance at sea. Time flies when you’re having fun!

With the sea conditions in mind, we took a controlled approach on the return journey.

A RIB of this size demands careful handling in waves like these. Yet I could easily imagine the 420 being deployed during floods and evacuations. It’s remarkably manoeuvrable, practical and quick to deploy.

Tubes

Another interesting detail is the tube material. No Hypalon. No PVC.

Interactor exclusively uses welded polyurethane (PU), offering exceptional abrasion resistance, colour retention and durability.

Only a handful of manufacturers worldwide produce PU tubes, and Interactor is one of them.

The trials also attracted international interest, and this wasn’t the first time.

Following the Sea Trials

Afterwards, we spent time discussing the boats.

I find these conversations just as valuable and interesting as the sea trials themselves. Questions were raised, observations exchanged and technical details discussed.

Tim and Silke answered every question, providing clear explanations that left the interested visitors thoroughly satisfied.

Worth Mentioning

Multraship has relied on Interactor RIBs for many years now, and since 2024, Interactor has been the official contracted supplier to the Belgian coastal rescue services.

All specifications of the three tested RIBs can be found below.

And one final thought: I can’t wait to test Interactor’s larger models. As we speak, the range extends all the way to 12.3 metres.

About the Brand

Interactor Boats is the new European name for boats previously sold as Tornado.

They’re still built in the same Chinese factory, by the same experienced team, with the same materials.

After Tornado Denmark tried to bring production to Denmark, the brand faced quality issues and delays.
The company entered bankruptcy proceedings in 2025. Interactor brings the well-known quality again on the European market sourced from the original factory with finishing facilities based in Belgium under the new name Interactor.

Proud to share that Interactor is a Friend of RIBs ONLY.

Interactor – Introducing a New RIB Brand in Europe

Interactor - Introducing a New Brand in Europe @ RIBs ONLY - Home of the Rigid Inflatable Boat

There’s a New Kid in Town: Interactor

Unveiling the Mystery RIB—its secret’s out!

With excitement, I post the full press release right here.

Custom-Built Professional RIBs You Can Trust

Interactor Boats is a new name on the European market. It is backed by a proven track record of quality and reliability.

The brand specializes in building custom-made professional RIBs.

It serves organizations that operate on the water and demand high-performance vessels. These include rescue services, fire departments, government agencies, and maritime professionals.

In addition, the brand offers tailored solutions for sailing coaches and private individuals who seek top-tier craftsmanship and durability.

A Brand for Professionals

Interactor is not a consumer brand. We build for those who are active on the water daily and demand high standards in reliability, safety, and quality. Our boats are functional tools designed to deliver top performance and withstand the toughest conditions.

Built to serve. Made to last.

The name Interactor is no coincidence. Our boats are designed to interact with the water and the weather.

They engage with the mission and the team. Our boats adapt to the realities of daily work on the water.

Whether it’s rescue operations, sea escort, or inspection tasks, an Interactor is a boat you can trust.

It is built with reliability, control, and long-lasting performance in mind.

Not a Standard Product, no Mass Production.

Every Interactor is built on demand and fully customized. We do not engage in mass production.

Instead, we combine high-quality materials with precision techniques and artisanal craftsmanship.

Our hulls are produced using vacuum infusion, which ensures a uniform, strong structure without air inclusions.

For the tubes, we exclusively use welded polyurethane (PU), a material offering exceptional abrasion resistance, color retention, and durability. PU tubes are available worldwide from only a handful of manufacturers—and Interactor is one of them.

Interactor boats are known for their construction quality and finish. Instead of being replaced after years of use, they often receive a new tube. The hulls remain in excellent condition, making a full replacement usually unnecessary.

Sales through authorized dealers Interactor operates exclusively through a network of carefully selected dealers.

These partners are chosen based on their technical expertise, market knowledge, and professional approach.

They guide customers through every step: from advice and configuration to delivery and after-sales support.

This way, we ensure every project is in the right hands. Our boats and customers deserve the quality and service we provide.

To learn more about our boats, visit www.interactorboats.com. Check our current stock availability, which includes several models from the 485 up to the 600 Coach.

Professional. Thoughtful. High-quality.

That is Interactor.

Large Tornado RIBs

For over four decades, Tornado Boats has been a pioneer in crafting Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs) designed for both events and seafaring.

They started in 1975 in England. Their first RIB was a 5.5 m equipped with a 50 hp engine, which was considered quite substantial during those days.

Nowadays they more than doubled in size.

They are now located in Lystrup, 5 kilometers north of Aarhus, Denmark.

I’ve published more Tornado RIB videos for you to enjoy. Just click here.
