Real-life MOB Drill in Rough Seas by OLM

MOB Stands for Man Over Board

A maritime safety exercise off Brittany demonstrates a realistic man overboard recovery in rough offshore conditions aboard a rigid inflatable boat.

The training, organised by Oliver focuses on fast reactions, coordinated teamwork, and controlled manoeuvres during an emergency situation at sea.

Crew members immediately identify the casualty and announce the man overboard situation to everyone on board.

The helmsman carefully repositions the boat while maintaining control in strong swell and challenging sea conditions. A very important skill in case of an MOB.

The recovery procedure prioritises crew safety and a stable approach toward the person in the water.

The MOB exercise highlights the importance of preparation when navigating exposed coastal waters with strong Atlantic currents.

Brittany remains a demanding environment where rapid decision-making can become critical during offshore navigation.

This training footage targets recreational boaters, sailors, and rigid inflatable boat operators seeking stronger safety awareness at sea.

He works directly with each participant, delivering demanding sessions focused on precision, confidence and real-world offshore expertise.

No other initiatives in France match this level of practical immersion and high-performance coaching.

The following testimonial was provided by a recent participant:

After the Glénan course in November, which was fantastic, I only had one desire: to take it to the next level by doing the Raz de Sein.

Honestly, I wasn’t disappointed — the training was outstanding. There was definitely stress and plenty of thrills, but in the end, so much satisfaction.

Thanks again, Olivier, for this unforgettable experience, your friendliness and your professionalism.

Rough Sea Training by Olivier Consorti of OLM

Challenged by a Rough Sea

Olivier Consorti, leads the OLM Perfectionnement Mer Formée and provides training sessions out on the sea in Mercury powered RIBCRAFT.

Mastery comes with time and practice and you don’t learn seamanship from a book or in flat waters.

This time Olivier took his trainee from the Vieille lighthouse towards Armen. They traveled via the Sein causeway (France) in very agitated seas.

I highly value Olivier’s training videos.

It should come as no surprise that I’ve posted many more of them here on RIBsONLY.com.

You can enjoy them here and it’s absolutely worth it:: Training videos in agitated and rough seas.
