Tackle 5 BFT Storm Waves with OLM Training

5 BFT Stands for 17 to 21 Knots Winds

Olivier Consorti, leads the OLM Perfectionnement Mer Formée.

He personally guides participants through intensive sessions. These are designed to elevate their skills to an exceptional level.

No other program in France offers such an immersive, practice-driven approach. This 5 BFT video is just one of them.

Refreshing Navigation by OLM for Eric at Les Glénan

Navigation Training by OLM

Eric recently acquired a Merry Fisher. He proactively chose to take a training.

He did this to revisit and strengthen the fundamental techniques of navigation.

This thoughtful approach reflects his commitment to safety, confidence, and competence at sea.

A follow-up training session has already been scheduled for a later date.

This will happen once Eric has accumulated more hands-on experience with his boat.

At that point, he will be ready to take the next step in his development.

He will participate in the more advanced Stage 2 course. This course will take place in the challenging waters of the Raz de Sein, France.

Kudos to Eric for his forward-thinking mindset, willingness to question himself, and dedication to continuous improvement on his maritime journey!

I am a big fan of the trainings provided by Olivier Consorti hence my many videos here on RIBsONLY.com: I Just Can’t Get Enough.

How to Pass a Wave by Perfectionnement Mer Formée

How to Pass a Wave Safely

Patrick, during his advanced sailing course (by OLM) amidst challenging conditions (force 4 and rough seas on Douglas), adeptly observed, analyzed, and took decisive action on the formidable waves and breakers at the Raz de Sein.

This video shows how he successfully navigated and conquered these mighty swells.

Check out this retrospective of 2022, a compliation of the best videos.

Riding the Waves of the Raz in a 200 hp V8 RIB

Chasing Waves

Olivier Consorti, owner of OLM Perfectionnement Mer Formée, leads these training sessions, pushing the limits of mastery of his clients.

This type of hands-on training is unique in France.

Operating RIBs safely and efficiently demands practical technical skills that cannot be learned from books.

It must be carried out in real conditions, at an appropriate location, with proper equipment, and under a qualified instructor.

Weather can shift quickly, and facing higher waves, stronger currents, rougher seas on the return journey than at departure can be highly challenging and stressful.

After all, the skipper holds responsibility for all aboard, safety requirements and for the vessel, and for making crucial decisions in difficult seas.

Wave Crossing: Curve-speed-wave With Olivier

Wave Crossing Training by OLM

Olivier Consorti, owner of OLM Perfectionnement Mer Formée, leads these training sessions, pushing the limits of mastery of his clients.

Olivier could have rushed straight into the Raz de Sein (France) like so many others chasing the thrill. Instead, he took a step back.

A thinker by nature, he knew that theory alone wouldn’t keep him steady in a rough sea.

In the calm, open waters of the Glénan islands, he learned the language of waves.

During this wave crossing he also felt how trim changes the boat’s mood. And most of all he discovered what real power means when a V8 answers your hand on the throttle.

If you like these kind of trainings and want to learn more, I’ve posted plenty more videos, mostly rough sea trainings.
