Rough Sea Training by Olivier Consorti of OLM

Challenged by a Rough Sea

Olivier Consorti, leads the OLM Perfectionnement Mer Formée and provides training sessions out on the sea in Mercury powered RIBCRAFT.

Mastery comes with time and practice and you don’t learn seamanship from a book or in flat waters.

This time Olivier took his trainee from the Vieille lighthouse towards Armen. They traveled via the Sein causeway (France) in very agitated seas.

I highly value Olivier’s training videos.

It should come as no surprise that I’ve posted many more of them here on RIBsONLY.com.

You can enjoy them here and it’s absolutely worth it:: Training videos in agitated and rough seas.

Richard in Rough Sea Training in a Ribcraft

Rough Sea Training Humbles

Olivier Consorti, owner of OLM Perfectionnement Mer Formée, leads these training sessions, pushing the limits of mastery of his clients.

Richard de Querqueville (50) brings with him the discipline of a French Navy sailor. He also has years of experience handling powerful RIBs.

His story is set apart by humility. He confronted the notoriously demanding waters of the Raz de Sein (France) with this humility.

He recognized that true seamanship does not solely rely on previous achievements.

It emerges from mistakes, perseverance, and adaptation in real conditions.

Through patience and resilience, he gradually honed his abilities in this unforgiving environment, strengthening both his confidence and skill.

Olivier, , congratulates, Richard, on completing this impressive challenge with admirable courage and determination.

Impressive RIB Improvement Course for Rough Seas

Improvement by Training

Richard, traveled to Saint Alban de Roche (F) to familiarize himself with wave crossing techniques on February 1, 2020 in the Raz de Sein (Brittany).

He has held a boating license since 1992 and he has a RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat). He therefore has a certain mastery of the boat, of the management and of the trim.

He questioned himself to do this improvement training in rough seas in order to feel more at ease in the analysis, the know how on decision-making as skipper.

FYI, Olivier uses a Ribcraft 5.85 powered by with a Mercury 200 V8.
