The Amazing Suzuki DF 140B
Review of the new outboard engine Suzuki DF 140B, mounted on Rigid Inflatable Motor Boat Focchi 640 (website).
The location of this review was at lovely Ispra, Lake Maggiore, Italy.
The boat show reports from a Focchi inflatable testing Suzuki’s new DF-140B outboard during sea trials.
The 140-horsepower inline four-cylinder displaces 2,045 cc, weighs 186 kilograms, and runs 10.6:1 compression with dual combustion flaps.
Suzuki highlights an innovative system filtering microplastics from seawater before releasing it clean.
Electrical output reaches 40 amps, delivering 20 just above idle for durability gains.
At 16 knots consumption is eight liters per hour, roughly two miles per liter.
Cruising 35 knots uses about 27.8 liters hourly, while maximum speed approaches 45 knots at 6,300 rpm.
Versions of 115 and 100 horsepower are also offered.
