“In June 1969 a group of dinghy sailing enthusiasts organized the non-competitive descent of the Po, from Pavia to Venice.
The enthusiasm of that experience saw them, in January of the following year, founders of the “inflatable boat club” in Milan.
First in Italy, our association today has around 150 members, all, with rare exceptions, active dinghy owners. The headquarters have always been in Milan, but there are members throughout Italy.
Affiliated to the Italian Powerboat Federation since 1971, the club has given itself a Statute and Regulations which define the methods of participation and the objectives to be achieved
Objectives that are well described in the purposes that our founders wanted to delegate to us.
Purpose
The Gommone Club, founded in Milan in 1970, is an association of owners of inflatable boats created with the aim of bringing together all sports enthusiasts who are passionate about nautical pleasure and in particular the pneumatic solution, who will find, within the Club, friends with whom to share all the satisfaction and enthusiasm that nautical tourism can give.
The Club’s primary aim is the planning and implementation of rallies, raids and nautical camping on lakes, along rivers and at sea. Rallies which always have a strong tourist focus and which do not require any particular skill or preparation on the part of the participating crews other than the normal scruple of the efficiency of their vehicles. Furthermore, to satisfy the needs of the more sporty, the Club organizes and promotes competitions and skill tests.
Non-profit, apolitical, the Club bases its strength only on the number and passion of its Members. These and numerous other initiatives make the Dinghy Club one of the most organised and educational Nautical Clubs.”
After completing several major raids in inflatable boats: Brussels-Antalya, Iceland-Norway and Singapore-Australia, Michel de Hemptinne founded the BELGIAN PNEUMATICLUB (BPC) in 1976 to share his experiences with ‘tyre enthusiasts’ and help them discover the exceptional marine qualities and amazing possibilities offered by this type of boat.
Over the years, the inflatable boat has evolved considerably, while retaining its basic qualities.
Its many possibilities mean that it can be sailed with equal ease on a peaceful canal or on the roughest seas, and is equally suited to adventurous, sporting or family sailing, with a reasonable operating budget compared with other forms of pleasure boating!
In line with the aims of its founder, the BELGIAN PNEUMATICLUB offers a wide range of nautical activities on inland waters and at sea, and continues to promote the versatility of this type of boat, which is becoming increasingly popular with the public.
Our club is also about the pleasure of being on the water with friends, taking part and learning to organise cruises that you wouldn’t undertake on your own.
Not to mention the added safety potential offered by sailing in a ‘flotilla’.

Some background information
The magazine is in French.
In line with the objectives of its founder, Michel de Hemptinne fonde le Belgian Pneumaticlub (BPC) en 1976, the Club offers many nautical activities in inland and maritime waters and thus continues to promote the versatility of this type of boat which is enjoying growing success with the public.
The club is also the pleasure of being on the water with friends, of participating and learning to organize navigations that we would not undertake alone. Without forgetting the additional safety potential offered by navigation in a “flotilla”.
Each year, the Club draws up a calendar of outings intended to meet everyone’s expectations: maritime or inland navigation, day or multi-day, in Belgium or abroad, nautical holidays, etc.
They publish a magazine. This one’s the “Belgian Pneumaticlub Magazine 126”.
