CITO XR7 Rigid Inflatable Boat Built in Norway

CITO XR7 Revisited

CITO Boat is a Norwegian boat builder Greåker, Norway.

The other RIB they build is the bigger XR9.

The first thing that stood out to me about the CITO XR7 was its sleek, low profile that exudes elegance.

The RIB uses rail-mounted seats that can be rearranged or removed for flexible layouts and driving preferences.

Founder Rino Berntsen developed in 2023 the concept after his children were injured in a bowrider, emphasizing safety with seatbelts.

Unlike most RIBs, the CITO XR7 has an open pedestal dashboard with cup holders, armrest, and throttle base.

Drivers sit strapped in, resting their arm securely, creating a safer, more controlled experience even at 50 knots.

The Ullmann seats absorb shocks well, keeping passengers comfortable despite strong forces on the hull.

They use the V-Air 24° hull technology (2 stepped hull).

Berntsen likens the experience to riding a motorcycle due to low pontoons and exposure to wind and spray.

This video was published on the Båtmagasinet YouTube channel.

In this article, I presented this model for the first time but without the video that was not available yet.

Greåker, Norway Based, CITO Shipyard

In 2023, Rino Berntsen founded CITO Boat. The company is based at Greåker, Norway.

He was driven by his deep passion for boats. He also has extensive expertise in the field of boat building garnered over numerous years.

That’s What We Like to See

The first model presented at BOOT 2024 was the CITO XR7.

They use Vinylester, which is stronger than ordinary polyester. Also 4-axled fiberglass mats combined with Kevlar as well.

Future models are the XR9 (featuring a console and a bed) and the XR11 that incorporates a pilothouse.

It has minimal weight, and a low center of gravity.

The V-Air step hull generates enhanced efficiency and lift. Rigged outboards are from 200 to 300 hp.

What drew my immediate focus was the sleek and minimalist design of the steering console. I’m intrigued to see how clients will respond to this.

Enhanced by high-back suspension seats from Ullman Dynamics, the driving experience becomes truly smooth.
