Towing a Boat with a 100 Percent Electric Car
Agreed, it’s not about a RIB this time. Still, I found this article published by the Belgian Pneumaticlub. It is a very interesting real life test case to share with you.
It’s about traveling by a 100 percent electric car trailering an average boat. The car is an Audi e-tron 55 capable of towing 1,800 kg.
This highest weight can apply to many Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs) being towed. A 100 Percent Electric Car impacts the way you to a boat.
The full article is published in the uploaded magazine of the Belgian Pneumatic Club.
It is a very detailed well-written article describing distances, calculations and charging times. I was very curious about the outcome and it struck me to read the next conclusion:
“Au niveau du coût et pour ce voyage aller-retour, rouler à l’électrique est 40% plus cher par rapport au diesel.”
(Translation: In terms of cost and for this round trip, driving on electric is 40% more expensive compared to diesel.)
I wrote an article last year on the possible impact of towing our beloved RIB by electric cars. And do check out my article on hydrogen versus electricity.
