On May 1st, 1987, the Deraedt family took over the company “Brugge Marine Center.” Following a thorough reorganization and reorientation, BMC quickly grew to become one of the most flexible and fastest-growing companies in its sector.

In November 1996, the company relocated to the old Racing Department & Boathouse of OMC-Europe. This spacious building not only provided room for numerous additional services but also boasts a perfect location, adjacent to the sea canal and the ring road of Bruges, making it easily accessible by both boat and car. The boathouse, spanning two floors, is equipped with a special crane for lifting boats directly from the canal to transport them to the workshop for further repairs, maintenance, servicing, and/or winter storage.
Various covered pontoons are also available, allowing visitors to access the company by boat and enabling quick minor repairs to be carried out—even in pouring rain. Additionally, there is a boat ramp located next to the building. The company is situated 6 miles of canal sailing (+1 lock) from the North Sea, with further inland navigation possible after passing through just one lock.
