RIBCRAFT Steps Taken to Reduce Carbon Footprint

The new RIBCRAFT Hybrid Patrol RIB

RIBCRAFT have announced several steps they have taken to reduce their carbon footprint and overall environmental impact.

A Middle Eastern customer required a Patrol RIB intended for the surveillance of the environmentally protected areas with zero environmental footprint, while at the same time being able to operate at speeds in excess of 40 knots for safety and security missions.

A new RIBCRAFT Hybrid Patrol RIB launched by RIBCRAFT in Dubai is powered by a unique hybrid electric system developed and supplied by Transfluid, and Elcome International that uses Volvo Penta diesels.

The hybrid system architecture includes a clutch and transmission that would allow the vessel to operate in an electric-only mode for completely emission-free and silent running.

In an engine-only mode, the diesel works by driving the boat while also charging the battery.

The boat can operate soundlessly at a slow speed and patrol quietly in protected waters. If needed, it can also surge to a high-speed motor to fulfill its duty.

Alternatively, you could have both electric power and diesel generating the engine’s power for maximum performance.

The three operational modes make it cheaper to use a small, fuel efficient and low maintenance diesel engine which saves you money in the long run.

Proud to share that RIBCRAFT UK is a Friend of RIBs ONLY.
