Discover the Highfield Velox 420

The Highfield 420 Velox is a compact, high-performance Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB).

It measures under 14 feet (4,44 m). This boat is uniquely equipped with a jet propulsion system instead of the usual outboard motor.

The Highfield Velox 420 is powered by a BRP Rotax’s ACE 900 engine. It weighs less than 125 pounds (56 kg).

This allows it to achieve a lightweight design with a low center of gravity, enhancing stability.

The jet system is integrated with an aluminum hull.

This allows shallow-water operation in less than a foot of water. It is ideal for maneuvering in tight areas without risking propeller strikes.

This model’s jet propulsion offers a major advantage in responsiveness.

According to the pilot in this video acceleration is quick, with the Highfield Velox 420 reaching plane in about 3.5 seconds, hitting 27 knots (30 mph) in around 6 seconds, and topping out just below 35 knots (40 mph).

Highfield Sport 800: Speed and Efficiency Combined

The Sport 800 RIB Boat form Highfield Boats stands out for its solid construction and sleek design.

It reached speeds over 45 knots, delivering nearly 3 miles per gallon—efficiency uncommon for boats of this size.

Key features include two swim platforms, swim ladders, a cockpit table with dedicated storage, and a drawer-style refrigerator.

Its deep V-hull makes it both sturdy and lightweight.

Antoine Albeau’s Highfield Patrol 420 Walkthrough

This Time a Highfield Patrol 420 Walkthrough

A month ago I’ve publisheda a blog post of Antoine Albeau how he uses this Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB).

This time he provides an detailed overview of the Patrol 420.

My 6 Takeaways

The Patrol has an aluminum hull and is the smallest in the Patrol range.

This boat is equipped with over-engineered tow bars front and back.

At the helm there is a two-seat console with a cushioned backrest. There is room to stow away things you need.

Of course like many RIBs this one has extra-long non-slip deck pads, large handles and ropes for easy beaching a.o.

The deep V aluminum hull has a deadrise of a modest 20°.

It’s a compact RIB, also great to use as a tender.
