Mercury Verado V10 425 hp: Fuel Consumption

Testing the Mercury Verado

Mercury Marine introduced the Verado V10 425 hp outboard engine, built on a 5.7-liter naturally aspirated displacement block.

Featuring a 90 mm throttle body and 6,600 rpm maximum limit, it gains 25 horsepower over the 400 hp version.

Weighing over 100 kg less than 450 hp competitors, it achieved 0-to-26 knots three seconds faster during acceleration tests.

Sea trials on a 10 m Salpa Soleil 40 (see specs below) with twin Mercury Verado 425 hp engines delivered a top speed near 50 knots.

At cruising speeds between 20 and 30 knots, the engines demonstrated silent operation and balanced fuel efficiency.

Combined fuel burn registered 100 liters per hour at 20 knots and 140 liters per hour at 30 knots.

Starting 2026 list pricing begins at €39,690 for a single outboard unit excluding accessories.
