Dramatic Moment RNLI Weston-Super-Mare Rescue Two From the Water

When the crew from Weston-super-Mare Lifeboat Station were diverted to a shout with at least two casualties in the water, they knew they had to act quickly.

Situated on the side of the Bristol Channel – a body of water with the second highest tidal range in the world – the crew know that conditions can change fast, making every second count…

The RIB performed as well.

Rescue Swimming

Volunteers from the RNLI New Brighton Lifeboat Station in Merseyside responded to a Coastguard request after receiving reports of two people stranded at the end of a groyne, isolated by the rising tide.

With swells reaching up to 1.5 meters and waves crashing onto the groin where the casualties were stuck, it became impossible for the lifeboat to manoeuvre close to them.

This situation left the crew with only one viable option – a team member would have to swim to the groyne to assist them.

The challenging conditions, coupled with the urgency of the situation, added intensity to the rescue swimming mission.
