Bull Rock: Best Boat Trip In Ireland

About Bull Rock…

Bull Rock is a dramatic sea stack off Ireland’s wild west coast, near Dursey Island, accessible only by boat.

Exploring it during calm weather, surrounded by towering cliffs, powerful waves, and stunning ocean views.

Bull Rock rises 93 meters high and is steeped in Irish history, local legends, and tragic shipwrecks.

Bull Rock is less known internationally than the Skellig Islands—famous from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

However, it is deeply respected by the Irish for its haunting past.

Along the way, they passed Calf Rock. In 1881, six lighthouse keepers were stranded there for 12 days due to storms.

Landing remains difficult even today.

They also saw Cow Rock, known for its natural sea arch, sculpted by centuries of crashing waves.

In calm weather, it’s even possible to sail through the arch—a breathtaking sight that reveals itself only when close.

This unforgettable trip offered a raw look at Ireland’s untamed coastline and remote islands, perfect for explorers and photographers.

This journey was captured by Corno van den Berg, an award-winning videographer, writer, and photographer from the Netherlands.

I was so impressed that I posted another video about this wonder of nature: Bull Rock Rocks!
