The Ribco Venom 39 RIB Walkthrough and Test

The Ribco Venom 39 Has a Scorpion Hull

Greek based Ribco mainly builds big RIBs. The 8.5 m is the smallest at this point in time.

The Ribco Venom 39 is a 39-foot performance vessel powered by Mercury Racing 500 engines, reaching 80 miles per hour.

The presenter described this RIB as the “private jet of the seas” because of its speed, comfort, and meticulous engineering.

Boarding is simplified with teak steps, removable tables, and thoughtful flip-up cushions that preserve seating while ensuring practical access.

The aft section offers U-shaped seating for six to eight guests, a rear-facing bench, JL Audio speakers, and cup holders.

Compartments house pumps, fuel transfer switches, and a dry, lockable storage area, with a bilge finished for accessibility and cleanliness.

Second-row seating provides security with grab handles, footrests, and excellent sight lines. This setup allows passengers to enjoy speed with safety and confidence.

The helm blends race-inspired ergonomics with luxury: Mercury VesselView, Garmin display, carbon fiber trim, Alcantara finishes, and nicely placed throttles.

Although this last feature depends on the length of the skipper.

At the bow, a large sun pad accommodates five, while a spacious waterproof console includes a head and convertible storage.

Additional refinements include integrated lighting, a secure rear shade, and even an espresso machine powered by the onboard inverter.

Underway, the Ribco Venom 39 delivers sharp turns, immediate planing, responsive steering, and sports car–like handling with remarkable traction.

It has an active trim that did a good job, according to the presenter. It tilts the engine(s) automatically when needed. Some like it, some say it takes the real RIBbing.

I had the opportunity to experience that feature. To me, it’s more a gizmo. It could help the newbee skipper to learn what the effect of trimming is. Luckily you can switch it off.
