Change YouTube Video Captions in Your Own Language

It is a pity that not all text spoken videos have captions also known as subtitles. But …

If they do, you can activate the captions in your own language. Here is a brief instruction on how to translate YouTube video captions.

1. Click on the “Settings” gear icon on the bottom right-hand corner of the YouTube video player.

2. Click on “Subtitles/CC” to activate the video captions see the available captions for the video.

3. Click on “Subtitles/CC” and then “Auto-translate”. In this example I previously chose English.

Clicking on it makes you choose your language form a list (use the scrollbar to look for your language).

Click on the desired language.

That’s it! You can now read the captions in your own language. The translation is as good as YouTube gets it.
