Glasgow<\/a>-based Ultimate Boats (UB)<\/a> was shortlisted for the \u2018Environmental Initiative\u2019 category of the METSTRADE<\/a> Boat Builder Awards as a result of its pioneering use of a revolutionary sustainable technology and material in boatbuilding. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

ExoMarine<\/a>TM<\/sup>,\u00a0the marine variant of DANU\u2122<\/a>,\u00a0was\u00a0created by\u00a0UB\u2019s parent company,\u00a0ExoTechnologies<\/a>,\u00a0as an alternative to glass reinforced plastic (GRP)<\/a>\u00a0with the\u00a0goal of\u00a0combatting\u00a0the\u00a0growing problem\u00a0of\u00a0old boats\u00a0being\u00a0disposed\u00a0of\u00a0via\u00a0landfill,\u00a0with an estimated\u00a0250 million kilos of GRP\u00a0being\u00a0dumped in Europe each year.\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The Environmental Initiative award, sponsored by Confindustria Nautica<\/a>, recognises boat builders who have made a significant contribution towards sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The award recognises examples such as recycling initiatives, lifecycle awareness and support of environmental improvement projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Boat Builders Awards ceremony was held at the METSTRADE show in Amsterdam on 17 November 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
