Sacs Strider 18 – Is It a RIB?

The Strider 18 by Sacs, a luxury boat, has sleek and aggressive lines which will turn heads.

This 18,10 m Sacs has in addition to the huge deck space, a large aft beach, a dinette area with pop-up TV and an awesome bow sundeck.

Below deck there is a large galley area, the master bedroom forward and a double guest cabin aft.

Equipped with impressive surface propellers, it literally soars over the water.

How to Dock a Single-Engined RIB – Motor Boat & Yachting

When docking any boat, estimating the wind correctly is an important factor for a “clean” manoeuvre.

Coming alongside in a single-engined boat without a bow thruster can be one of the more difficult skills to master, especially on your own.

Jon Mendez explains all… Don’t forget to check his video on how to drive a RIB in rough water.

Williams DieselJet 505 SOLAS Testing

I always find these kinds of tests very impressive and well worth watching. This time it’s a Williams RIB that is put to the test.

This video shows numerous tests a RIB must pass in order to be approved.

I have more videos of these kind of tests here on RIBs ONLY. Like this ones from GEMINI, Ribeye and Sportis to name a few.

This one is my absolute favourite. It’s a slam tests from a RIB … that never slams: it’s a Rafnar. Awesome video by our member Tom Bettle.

About these tests

SOLAS has been around for some time. The main objective of the SOLAS Convention is to specify minimum standards for the construction, equipment and operation of ships, compatible with their safety.

7.6 m Aluminium Navy RIB by ASIS

RIBs are versatile as you can read here and here. It’s no wonder professionals choose use a Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB), like those used by police, the navy, SAR (check this out), customs and maritime staff.

It’s also a great ‘tool’ for heavy duty operations as well.

Nigeria is in the market for a new 7.6 m Aluminum ASIS RIB. This vessel can quickly and efficiently respond to emerging national security threats as they arise.

This RIB has D-tubes installed in favour of more deck space.
